Arvin Soh

Arvin and wife Rhodora live on the Upper East Side and have been married for twelve years. They have four children: Joshua(9), Noah(7), Chloe(4), and Lucas(almost 2). The couple met at Redeemer through a mutual friend at a ski retreat. Arvin works in financial services while Rhodora used to be a teacher.

Arvin grew up in New Jersey and didn't start coming to church until later in high school. As such, he came to faith in college, largely through the benefit of a solid community and encouraging brothers and sisters in Christ. After university, he came to NYC to work and started attending Redeemer in 1995. His primary connection to Redeemer came via a community group downtown that was led by one of the pastoral interns and, to this day, remains one of Arvin's closest friends. Eventually, he started leading and coaching groups as well as teaching Sunday children's classes. Now that Rhodora and he effectively have their own mini-children's class every day, his primary ministry has been focused on community groups.
Dear ,

This fall, Redeemer City to City's offices will be overflowing with 18 visiting church planters from cities like Frankfurt, Montreal, and Santiago.

For five weeks they will be packed into a conference room for training in gospel theology and contextualized preaching, and help planning their core groups and public launches. They will also have sessions with Redeemer Lead Pastors and Redeemer City to City staff.

While it may be less visible than other ministries at Redeemer, church planting is a core part of the ministry here. Since Redeemer itself was planted in New York City 23 years ago, we've helped church planters start dozens of new congregations throughout the five boroughs, and coached or trained hundreds more abroad. We've found that in our rapidly growing global cities, we need hundreds of new churches that embody the gospel, think creatively about the needs of their particular neighborhoods, and speak the language of the city. It's exciting but challenging work which pushes our ministries to be more creative and entrepreneurial than ever before.

This Sunday, we'll be introducing a few of these international church planters at all Redeemer services, and you'll have a chance to meet them afterward and hear more about their cities. We hope you'll join us and be encouraged by the work God is doing all over the world.

Grace & peace,

John Hutchinson
