Mark Horton
Sunday Volunteer Manager

Mark moved to New York in the summer of 1989 with the idea of staying a short time and then moving back to his home state of Mississippi. On January 7, 1990, he attended his first service at Redeemer and immediately felt he had found his home. He added a variety of work experiences to his resume including teaching choral music, working in carpentry, advertising and graphic design and designing costumes for theater, ballet, opera and film. In 2004 Mark joined the staff full time and has been working for Sunday Service Ministries ever since.

Dear Edward,

Redeemer has grown tremendously since our first meeting of about 150 people in the fall of 1989. We have grown for many reasons, one of them being the core group of leaders who have met regularly with a unified vision. As we've grown, it has become increasingly challenging to experience the kind of community we had as a smaller church where people were more connected.

This past Tuesday, we had our first East Side Leaders gathering where we worshiped, heard from various ministry leaders, shared laughter and a meal. In many ways it was a preview of our vision to "grow the church smaller".  What I mean by this is the desire to create regular times of worship and community with the feel of a smaller church, while continuing to grow overall. I look forward to the many opportunities ahead to work alongside you to deepen community here on the East Side.

Warmly in Christ,

Ed Sirya

Director of Ministry, East Side
