Alicia Rainbolt
Deaconess

This week the East Side is featuring Alicia Rainbolt who is moving to be a Deaconess with the Downtown Congregation.  We are thrilled to be able to support Redeemer's new congregation with former East Siders!

Alicia is a native Texan, but a true New Yorker at heart. Having moved to the City right after graduating from The University of Texas at Austin in 2003, to work in travel public relations, Alicia found Redeemer in 2005, soon considered it home and became a member. Alicia has served in Bible Study Fellowship and as an usher at Redeemer and been involved in a Community Group (a few) since 2007. Alicia joined the Redeemer Diaconate in the spring of 2011 and found an amazing group of friends and deep Christian community. In her "spare" time, she loves traveling, trying new restaurants and nightlife, spending time with friends, and running in Central Park.
Dear ,

Friday nights, fifteen seekers squeeze into my living room to share a meal (usually Domino’s Pizza) and discuss the foundations of Christianity. We have people at various stages in their faith journey, from outright skeptic to new believer, all trying to get to the bottom of this God business.

People ask some tough questions, and I often don’t know the answers, so they clearly don’t show up to listen to me talk. Two years of leading this group have shown me that the key is hospitality: people come to learn, but they stay (sometimes until 2am!) because they feel welcome and at home.

We are called to extend God’s hospitality to those who haven’t experienced it yet. With several folks headed Downtown, East Side can welcome many more newcomers and introduce them to gospel community. There’s a growing list of ways for people to get connected – newcomer brunches, East Side picnics and citilights meals, to name a few – designed to help people feel at home. So please extend a warm welcome to someone you know and invite them to Sunday worship at Redeemer’s East Side.

In Christ,
Daniel Lee
Community Group Associate

Volunteers Needed!
This week, the Downtown congregation officially launches! Many of our leaders and volunteers head downtown but their departure opens opportunities for other people – much as you - to get involved with our various ministries.

Children’s Ministry is looking for Nursery, Preschool, Elementary, and Special Needs workers, as well as volunteers for a completely new discipleship program at 9:15. Contact Kathryn Koontz to volunteer.

Sunday Service Ministries is looking for volunteers to serve once a month greeting, welcoming and seating attenders, serving Communion, selling books and providing information about Redeemer’s numerous ministries and programs. For more info or to sign up, contact Mark Horton.

You can also come by the Ministry Fair after the service to talk to current volunteers and find out what is involved in serving. We'd love to see you there, and hope to be serving with you soon!
