Diane Wenzler

Diane came to Redeemer by way of invitation and began to attend the evening services in late 1994. Soon after coming to Redeemer she participated in the Habitat for Humanity service project in Sandtown, Maryland and became a part of a community group.  Since then she has served on missions teams and led a community group for Redeemer. In the fall of 2002 she joined the diaconate mercy ministry and is still amazed with how Redeemer cares for its congregation.  The diaconate has made the truth of 2 Cor. 4:7 come home to her, " But we have this treasure in jars of clay, to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not to us."

Diane is a lifelong resident of NYC, having been born and raised in Queens.  She works at a non-proft social service agency where she trains and provides publications to social service providers on public benefit programs so they can effectively navigate the system on their clients' behalf.
Dear ,

Long before I moved to New York, I was impressed and influenced by the deeply held view at Redeemer that Sunday worship is an inherently evangelistic moment. It is a time for the body of Christ to worship the Lord and grow more deeply in him together. It is also, however, an important time for those outside the faith to be exposed to the gospel.

Every time we gather for worship, we "declare his glory among the nations" (Psalm 96:3) gathered in the melting pot that is New York City.  This opportunity is extraordinary and it is our responsibility to invite others to join us in this.  Because life in this city moves so fast, often just getting to worship on Sunday can be an accomplishment.  But we have to fight to keep our priorities straight.

Let's not slip into the mode of being simply a consumer, but instead a bringer. Please make a habit of regularly inviting people you know to visit Redeemer. We intentionally design the entire Sunday experience to be comprehensible to those outside the Christian faith.

Over the last two years I have been struck by the number of you I've met who became a Christian because someone invited you to attend a Redeemer worship service. Pray for the Lord to continue to draw people to himself through our time together. And thank you for being a bringer!

Warmly in Christ,

Leo Schuster
