After college, despite an engineering background and knowing close to nothing about finance, God took me to NYC with a job on Wall Street. He has His mysterious ways, as I found Redeemer and my wonderful community group through a friend from the trading floor -- of all places! Fast forward seven years, God has grown me in ways I never thought possible through the teaching at Redeemer, community life and missions trips to SA. Now, I get the blessing of living a "double life" -- working in equity derivatives by day and serving along side the Downtown staff by night -- which means that I get to serve God around the clock! It has been wonderful to be part of this new Redeemer community from its inception and to serve some of the neediest parts of our city together!

Dear ,

Thank you for all of your prayers and support for the Downtown Challenge! From my vantage point as lead pastor, it has been amazing to see the outpouring of support for the launch of Downtown, through volunteer-initiated giving parties, prayer for the Challenge and of course, hundreds of sacrificial gifts of varying sizes from throughout Redeemer. We're thrilled to be announcing the final results this coming Sunday, July 1 at all worship services.

Now that the Downtown Challenge is coming to a close, the Downtown staff team is beginning to focus on two major near-term goals. The first will be to identify, secure and equip a location for Sunday worship services in the fall. We've already looked at upwards of 150 potential locations, so please continue to pray that God provide us with the right place. The second will be to form volunteer teams to begin executing vision for various components of our new congregation, such as Sunday volunteers, children's ministry, prayer and evangelism. If you'd like to be involved in one of these areas, please don't hesitate to let us know by emailing Mai.

I look forward to continuing to update you throughout the summer!

In Christ,

John Lin
