Each week, this section
will spotlight a member
of Redeemer Downtown.

I grew up in Southern California and came to New York for adventure and to attend NYU. On September 11, 2001, I met a friend that eventually helped me become a follower of Christ. For the past 7 years, I have worked in ministry and have loved seeing the Gospel transform the lives of many, especially my own family and friends. I love Downtown because of its vibrant, diverse and creative soul. From the live shows in the LES, art galleries in Chelsea, opportunities to serve New Yorkers in need, and distinct neighborhoods, I see the One who offers "abundant life" at work here.

Dear ,

Welcome to our first bi-weekly newsletter!  You have received this email because you have expressed interest in getting updates about how our congregation is gearing up for our first worship service in the fall.  (If you don’t want to hear from us, we will be sad but there is a link below where you can manage your digital subscriptions and opt out from our updates.)

This week is Holy Week, a time when we pause and focus on the events culminating in the death and resurrection of Our Savior. It's a time to remember the life that Jesus gave for our redemption and the life He gives by His resurrection. Please join us for services during Holy Week, particularly our Maundy Thursday service Downtown. For more information, you can go to

On behalf of the entire Downtown Congregation team, it's our prayer and hope that you experience the fullness and exuberant joy of resurrection life this week.

In Him,

Rev. John Lin
Downtown Congregation Lead Pastor

See you tomorrow night!
It was great to see all the Downtown break out groups during the Marriage, Sex and Singleness Conference!  We were also thrilled to see so many people turn out for our lunch and have the extra time to continue discussing the teachings of Tim and Kathy.

We want to continue seeing you and have more opportunities for all of us to gather together before our launch this fall!  We hope to see you tomorrow night at our Maundy Thursday worship service.  We will share the Lord's Supper, a foot washing ceremony and a communal meal.

• Photographs of Downtown needed!
Do you like taking photographs of Downtown? Whether you are a professional photographer, a hobbyist, or a student of photography, we invite you to share your pictures of the quiet moments and small details of life in Downtown. We need photographers to donate pictures to be used in a wide variety of media. If you are interested, please email Mai Hariu-Powell at

Join Our Prayer Team!
Would you like to pray with us? A Prayer Team is forming that will gather regularly to pray for the upcoming launch, our downtown community, neighbors and more. We hope you will join us. To get involved, email Susan Nacorda at

Maundy Thursday Services
There is still time to sign up! Come join us in celebrating Maundy Thursday on April 5, at 7PM. This is a special service in which we solemnly reflect on the events that took place on the eve of Christ's crucifixion. There will be a worship service with the Lord’s Supper, a foot washing ceremony and a communal meal. Nursery will not be provided, but all children are encouraged to join us in the worship service. The New Birth Portraits Series Opens this week!
The gallery is open during Holy Week from Monday to Thursday (7pm – 10pm) and on Good Friday (3pm – 10pm) in the W83 Ministry Center in the 5th floor Fellowship Hall. These video portraits are vignettes of New Yorkers and their new births into Christ’s family.

Membership Class on April 14th
Our own Downtown Elder Charlie Osewalt will teach the Membership Class on the 14th! Charlie’s story of faith is featured as one of the New Birth Portraits and is a must see. You can watch his Portrait by clicking here
