Downtown Deaconess, Amy Peng

Born in Taiwan and raised in Northern California, I've called New York City home for nearly 10 years. I came searching for a new adventure in life and in fashion design. Through hardship, prayer, and community, I encountered Jesus and came to faith while attending Redeemer in 2006.  It's with a thankful heart for God's grace that I love and serve the Lord, city, and Redeemer Downtown as a Deaconess and prayer service member. My favorite downtown trait is the kaleidoscope of people who coexist here. Witnessing the Gospel transform lives and continue to sanctify us in the midst of community is a beautiful thing.

To build a great city for all people through a gospel movement that brings personal conversion, community formation, social justice and cultural renewal to New York City and, through it, to the world.

Dear ,

Life in New York is marked by seasons, whether unwinding in the summer or returning to busyness in the fall. This is no less the case in the life of the church as we approach one of the most hope-filled seasons of the year, Advent.

Advent is marked by anticipation. It is a time of expectant waiting for God to come into our lives, whether in the historical arrival of Jesus Christ, the promise of His eventual return, or His coming into our own lives today. It is a time to examine our need for Him, to hope in His coming to make the world right, and to have our hearts enlarged by the yearning for something glorious and its eventual fulfillment.

This year, our congregation will devote four Sundays in December to celebrate God’s coming. Our worship liturgies will point us to the promises of God’s first coming, spoken of by Isaiah, Zephaniah, Micah and Malachi, the Gospel accounts of His arrival, in the experience of John, Elizabeth and Joseph, and the yearning for His return, written of by the apostles John and Paul. We also hope that this would be a season of “bringing”, where we invite friends and family to Redeemer who may be exploring or have questions about the Christian faith.

Lastly, to enhance this season of anticipation in a personal way, please sign up for the Redeemer Advent Meditation. This weekly meditation is meant for individuals, community groups and families and will be emailed to you on the four Sundays of Advent. CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP.

It is our hope that the person of Jesus Christ would be more real to you this season than He has ever been before.

In Christ,

John Lin
Downtown Congregation Lead Pastor
