Harrison Hollingsworth
AM Music Director, Downtown

I was raised in suburban Texas and grew up in the church. At 18 years old, I moved to Center City Philadelphia for music school and attended Tenth Presbyterian Church, my first exposure to city ministry (and the rigors of Reformed thought). My severe culture shock was cushioned by a church that loved students and loved the city. I joined Redeemer in 2008 when I came to New York to play Principal Bassoon at the NYC Ballet. God took me through an amazing discipleship journey, led by a combination of the preaching, leading a community group, and the courtship of the woman who soon became my wife. My hope for Downtown is that we will bring the healing power of the gospel to lower Manhattan in word AND deed, and that we worship on Sundays in a way that both edifies the church and attracts seekers and skeptics to our community.

Dear ,

This month is nomination month for new elders, deacons and deaconesses. As a new congregation, this is a particularly important time to choose and train leaders as officers of our congregation to serve those within our community. Elders provide oversight and shepherding over church leadership, as a reminder that God is our true Shepherd (1 Peter 5). Members of our Diaconate serve and provide practical assistance to those in need (Acts 6), as a reminder that ours is a compassionate and just God.

If you are a member of Redeemer, please prayerfully consider other members whom you might nominate to serve in one of these ways. If you are a member and you’ve been nominated, please consider serving in one of these roles! Information about the various roles, their qualifications and the nomination process can be found HERE. The nomination deadline is November 30th, which is coming up soon!

See you on Sunday and have a great Thanksgiving!

In Christ,

John Lin
Downtown Congregation Lead Pastor
