7 November 2012
Each week, this section
will spotlight a member
of Redeemer Downtown.
Deacon, Downtown Congregation
I grew up in Belgium and after attending college in England, I moved to Texas for business school. From there, I moved to San Francisco and finally to New York, where I immediately felt at home. After working on Wall Street for eight years, I decided to shift gears and work in the field of Microfinance with a focus on the South Pacific. My desire to help people and empower them to experience their potential has also led me to become a Leadership Coach. At Redeemer, I was a Gotham fellow in the inaugural class of 2009 and now I serve as a Deacon. The increased responsibility of being an officer in the church and a representative of Jesus has grown my love for the congregation, the Church and God. After living in the UWS for 12 years, I moved Downtown this August and absolutely love it! I’m excited to introduce Redeemer to my downtown friends and to serve my new community as best I can.
I hope this finds you safe after last week’s hurricane. If you have not already, this is a good time to connect with your community group, check in on neighbors, and pray for those in need throughout the area. If you have a specific material need as a result of the hurricane, please email email@example.com and if you are able to serve, please go to www.hfny.org/hurricane.
Now that we've officially launched our worship services, it is important that we be a "bringing" congregation that invites friends and neighbors who have questions, doubts, or are exploring Christianity. Over the next few weeks, starting this Sunday (November 11th), Jeff White will be teaching a class called the Credibility of Christianity. It will be a place for people to comfortably explore and express doubts, objections and challenges to the Christian faith. If you know someone who has questions about Christianity, please invite them to join us! Classes will be held immediately after our AM worship services at our worship venue.
Have a great rest of the week! See you on Sunday!
