ESAM Music Director
Miriam Burns has attended RPC since its inception in 1989, has been the conductor of The Orchestra of the Redeemer since its beginnings in 1995 and has been on staff as Music Director of the Hunter morning service for 13 years.
Miriam has just been named Music Director and Conductor of the McLean Orchestra (VA), having recently held the same title with the Tallahassee and Kenosha (WI) Symphonies. Miriam was also on staff with the New York Philharmonic as one of the Cover Conductors for eight years, having been invited as a result of a competitive audition. Serving under then music directors Kurt Masur and Loren Maazel, she was entrusted as an assistant conductor on call for countless specific, fully prepared programs under many guest conductors of international repute.
Last week, Redeemer’s W83 Ministry Center was literally buzzing with energy from the over 300 people involved in Vacation Bible School
(VBS). This year’s theme, “Sky”, was all about trusting in God…no matter who you are, no matter what you’ve done, no matter how you
feel, no matter what others might do and no matter what happens. Each day opened and closed with an assembly in the sanctuary where we sang, danced, reviewed our memory verse (Prov. 3:5-6) and had the chance to meet our pastors.
To witness 160 children worshipping God with such enthusiasm was incredible experience. The daily schedule also included music class, crafts, recreation and games, and a Bible story describing the truth of the day. VBS could not have been the success that it was without the dedicated and countless hours of support from parents, volunteers and staff from all three Redeemer congregations. The East Side Children's Ministry team was led by Director Spring Rawlings. For a peek into this past week’s VBS experience, check out the video below!

HFNY Children's Ministry School Kit Packing Project
During Sunday School on July 29
Elementary students in the Children's Ministry have been focused on short-term missionaries in the Redeemer community for the month of July. During Sunday School on July 29, all children will be participating in a hands-on local missions project with Hope for New York! The kids will be packing back-to-school kits to be distributed to Hope for New York partner ministries that serve at-risk children and youth. All supplies will be provided at Sunday School.
See our website for further needs listed on our Service Opportunities page.
Need a Good Read?
Our Book Table now accepts credit cards. So, if you are looking for a Better-Than-a-Beach-Novel summer read, stop by after the service and check out the available titles. If you are the type who not only enjoys reading books, but also recommending them to others, talk to a Book Table volunteer about joining the ministry. We would love to have you on one of our once-a-month teams. Or email Mark Horton for more info on volunteering.
On July 3, longtime Redeemer member and Eastside congregant, Doug Wilson, died after a three year battle with pancreatic cancer. He is survived by his wife Kathy, and their two children; Hannah and Sam. The funeral was held in Seattle, Washington on July 14. Please keep his family in your prayers during this difficult time.
