By this time, you are probably well aware of the Downtown Challenge! This will be an important way for us to support the launch of a new congregation Downtown, which in many ways, will be the single most important thing that we'll do as an East Side congregation this year in furthering our collegiate model.
I'd love for you to be advocates for the launch of the Downtown congregation. One specific and tangible way we can show our advocacy is to participate in the Downtown Challenge. This coming week, we'll encourage all of our Community Group leaders to play the Downtown Challenge video during their regular meeting time and I'd love for us to continue to communicate the Downtown Challenge every chance we have.
What's important to us is not just a few large gifts, but broad participation that involves everyone. One way we have talked about this is that if a thousand people offered a thousand dollars on average, we'd hit our one million dollar goal. Just think of what this could mean if over a thousand people gave in some way!
One last thing, on Sunday June 17, there will be one final opportunity for people to give towards the Downtown Challenge in all of our worship services. We'd love to help build momentum by having people give before that date. Therefore, let’s all work together to give by June 10 to have a better sense of our progress.
Thanks for all of your ministry in our midst!
